She took classes all over the Netherlands in drawing, graphic techniques and painting. Her artistic ambitions then took her to Paris, where she remained for a decade. She filled these years with education in the arts, exhibitions and encounters with other artists. Her work was mostly figurative, capturing all she saw around her, including animals, plants, her domestic interior and outdoor views. Bieruma Oosting continued working into old age on her multifaceted body of paintings and graphic work. The Rijksmuseum holds the largest extant collection of prints by Bieruma Oosting.
